Baqaei: Hosting Iran’s Enemies Is A Sign Of Ingratitude Toward Past, A Lack Of Foresight

Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei expressed that hosting Iran's enemies and collaborating with them to instigate conflict against Iranians signifies ingratitude for past assistance and a lack of foresight. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei shared a photograph on his X account depicting Iranian specialists who traveled to Kuwait in 1991 to extinguish the country's burning oil wells. He highlighted the historic contribution of these specialists who worked to extinguish the oil wells following the withdrawal of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime's army from Kuwait. Baqaei further elaborated that despite the fresh wounds from the war imposed by Saddam on Iran, and the support Kuwait and other Persian Gulf Cooperation Council members provided to Saddam's regime, Iran responded to a request from the Kuwaiti government by dispatching a 47-member team of oil industry specialists. These specialists assisted in the firefighting operations and undertook the task of capping 28 oil wells in t he Burgan field, an event documented internationally as part of the largest oil well firefighting operation in history. He emphasized that while Iran helped extinguish the fire that threatened Kuwait, the country now aligns with forces against Iran. Baqaei noted that Iran has always been committed to good neighborliness, but warned that the consequences of ingratitude and shortsightedness could eventually affect the ungrateful.
