Karbala: The bodies of family members of the martyred Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, have arrived in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala. The bodies arrived at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH) on Wednesday morning ahead of a funeral procession later in the day. They were brought from the city of Najaf, where a funeral procession for the martyred Leader and his family was also held earlier on Wednesday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the commemorative ceremonies in Karbala and Najaf are part of a weeklong memorial service for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several members of his family, who were killed in an airstrike by the US and Israeli terrorist regimes on the martyred Leader's office and residence in Tehran on February 28, the first day of the recent war launched by the two regimes against Iran.

The ceremonies in Iraq will conclude on Wednesday. The bodies of the martyred Leader and his family members will then be flown back to Iran to be laid to rest in the city of Mashhad on Thursday, marking the conclusion of the weeklong memorial service.

The memorial service began in Tehran on Friday, July 3, when senior officials from dozens of countries paid their respects to the martyred Leader and his family. Over the following two days, a farewell ceremony was held at Tehran's Grand Mosalla, where millions of mourners paid their final respects to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The farewell ceremonies were followed by funeral processions in Tehran and Qom on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, drawing millions of mourners from across Iran and other countries.
