Brazil and Germany Urge Intensified Diplomatic Efforts to End Anti-Iran War

Hannover: Brazil and Germany have jointly called for stronger diplomatic initiatives to end the US and Israeli aggression against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held a joint press conference in Hannover, stressing their commitment to supporting a swift diplomatic settlement between Washington and Tehran.

The governments of both Brazil and Germany are using all available means to help achieve a rapid diplomatic agreement between the United States and Iran, Merz said. President Lula voiced deep concern over the war against Iran and Lebanon, warning of escalating regional instability.

Germany and Brazil are seriously worried about the dangers of the war in Iran and the growing conflict in Lebanon. The survival of the Palestinian state and its people also remains under threat, he said. The war, involving joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran, began on February 28, 2026, and lasted 40 days.

A temporary two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan in April failed to yield lasting peace, as the US violated commitments during talks in Islamabad. Iran's Supreme National Security Council later affirmed that its negotiators would not compromise on the nation's sovereignty or the sacrifices made during the conflict.
