Yerevan: President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran views peace in the Caucasus as a strategic priority and opposes any change to international borders in the region, warning against turning it into an arena for geopolitical competition. Speaking at a joint press conference in Yerevan with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s support for peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that the stability and prosperity of its neighbors align with Iran’s national interests.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian affirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Armenia’s territorial integrity, describing it as a consistent policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He stressed that politics and governance in the Caucasus region should remain within the Caucasus and cautioned against involving external powers in resolving regional issues, as it could complicate matters further.

The president also spoke of the expanding bilateral relations with Armenia, projecting that trade could soon reach $3 billion. He highlighted areas of cooperation, including transport, energy, gas and electricity, engineering services, culture, tourism, health, and pharmaceuticals.

Pezeshkian underscored shared interests in activating the Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor, emphasizing the need to enhance rail, road, and maritime transit routes, establish joint free economic zones, equip border markets, and facilitate truck traffic between the two countries.
