Tehran: A senior official at the Plan and Budget Organization (PBO) says a project to construct the mausoleum of renowned Persian poet and thinker Shams Tabrizi is nearing completion, following intense efforts by officials and people in recent months. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hojjatollah Ayyubi, head of the PBO Department for Cultural, Sports and Tourism Affairs, made the remarks on Wednesday while visiting the construction site of the Shams Tabrizi Artistic and Cultural Complex in the city of Khoy, West Azarbaijan Province, in northwestern Iran. The complex, which includes the tomb of the renowned poet, is being built on an area of 7,000 square meters. The project began several years ago. Ayyubi noted that with the emergence of a national resolve and greater synergy among officials, the groundwork has been laid for the completion of this project, and today they are witnessing the creation of a valuable architectural masterpiece in Khoy. He also mentioned that the PBO supports the projec t, which is due for completion on September 29, marking Shams Day on the Iranian calendar. Shams Tabrizi is known as the spiritual instructor and mentor of Persian poet Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (1207-1273). Shams' shrine is planned to become a global cultural tourism attraction, featuring unique architecture that incorporates animal horns into its structure, and was built about 400 years ago.
