Tehran: Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Abbas Salehi has announced the launch of a comprehensive national registry system for artworks, aimed at combating forgery and establishing clear economic value for cultural products. Salehi made the announcement during a press conference held on Tuesday to mark the Administration Week.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, one of the chronic issues for cultural and artistic figures has been the lack of identification for cultural works, which results in unclear economic value. Salehi declared an initiative to resolve this issue by introducing the national registry system. Each digital ID within this system will contain detailed information, including the art genre, the artist’s name, the dimensions of the work, its creation date, and the owner’s specifications.
By providing a verifiable provenance and identity, registered artworks will gain legitimacy, Salehi stated. This initiative is expected to not only combat forgery but also enhance the economic recognition of cultural products within the national and international markets.
