Economy Minister to Promote Islamic Economic Cooperation Against US Pressure

Istanbul:Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh has announced plans to engage in bilateral talks with counterparts from various Islamic countries. The aim is to bolster economic cooperation and counteract the US's intensified economic pressure on Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Madanizadeh made these remarks as he prepared to depart for Istanbul for the 42nd session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC). The session is scheduled from October 31 to November 3, 2026.

Madanizadeh noted that the economic situations of the OIC member states affected by recent regional developments would be a primary topic at the meeting. He highlighted that many member states are facing severe inflation, economic stagnation, and significant increases in energy prices.

On the meeting's sidelines, Madanizadeh plans to conduct bilateral meetings with trade and economy ministers from several Islamic nations. These discussions are a continuation of recent consultations during his visits to various countries, focusing on expanding cooperation, mitigating the impact of sanctions, and countering the economic pressure campaign from Washington against Iran.

Madanizadeh emphasized that the primary objectives of these negotiations include expanding economic and trade relations and improving Iran's export, import, and transit routes.
