EU Rejects Iran Aggression Against French Diplomats

Brussels: The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, stated in a recent announcement that the European Union condemned the "aggression" by Iranian security services towards two French diplomats in Tehran earlier this month.

According to Deutsche Welle, Kallas emphasized that the EU "unequivocally condemns the aggression against two diplomats of the Embassy of France in Tehran perpetrated by Iranian security forces on July 19." She highlighted that such actions are a clear violation of the Vienna Conventions, specifically the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and that they endanger the fundamental conduct of diplomatic relations.

France reported that its diplomats were detained in Iran without any valid justification and experienced "an extremely serious act of intimidation" by the Iranian security services, with one of the diplomats suffering physical abuse. In response, Iran's foreign ministry summoned the French ambassador to express its protest against the conduct of the diplomats.
