EU’s IRGC Designation Echoes US-Israeli Tactics, Says Iran

Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has strongly condemned the European Union's resolution against the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). He asserts that the EU's actions align with the hostile and intimidating strategies of the United States and Israel.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed these views during a radio talk show on Tuesday. He highlighted Iran's vigorous response at all diplomatic levels, including summoning ambassadors from EU member states to protest the EU's "illegal and illogical" labeling of the IRGC.

Baqaei elaborated that the Foreign Ministry's recent initiatives, which involved summoning European envoys over the past two days, were intended to formally oppose and file complaints against the EU's offensive resolution. He described the EU's decision as a politically motivated move, aligned with the US and Israeli regimes' anti-Iran stance, and criticized it as lacking practical value, labeling it as "ugly, completely illegal, and unjustified."

Moreover, Baqaei emphasized that summoning ambassadors is merely a basic diplomatic and legal step to protest against another country's unlawful actions. He asserted that no sovereign nation would tolerate external parties referring to its armed forces in derogatory terms.

Lastly, he revealed that Iran is considering other measures in response to the EU's actions, which will be announced once finalized.
