Exclusive Analysis: Ayatollah Khamenei’s Leadership Paved Iran’s Path to Independence

Tehran: A prominent Russian Orientalist, Elena Dunaeva, has highlighted the pivotal role of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in steering Iran through a critical juncture in its quest for independence. Dunaeva described Ayatollah Khamenei as a pragmatic leader who, over his 37-year leadership, continued the path set by Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, while defending the achievements and interests of the Islamic Revolution.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Dunaeva, also an Iranologist, emphasized that Ayatollah Khamenei assumed leadership during a challenging period marked by the aftermath of the Iran-Iraq War and the passing of Imam Khomeini. During this time, it was crucial to rebuild the economy and develop Iran's social, economic, and cultural capacities to fulfill the Islamic Revolution's main objectives.

Dunaeva noted that Iran faced numerous challenges, and Ayatollah Khamenei's wise decisions significantly contributed to the country's social and economic development. She lauded his ability to negotiate and reach agreements, particularly in the face of international sanctions that exacerbated the economic situation. It was during this period that Ayatollah Khamenei introduced the policy of a 'resistance economy.'

Furthermore, Dunaeva praised the martyred Leader's focus on strengthening Iran's military capabilities and Armed Forces. She noted that despite the loss of their Leader and several officials, the Iranian people demonstrated resilience, unity, and a strengthened resolve to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ayatollah Khamenei was also recognized for advocating the development of good relations with Russia, with Russian President Vladimir Putin meeting him on several occasions, Dunaeva added.
