Tehran: Fifteen countries, including Iran, China, and Russia, have emphasized that peaceful, safeguarded nuclear facilities should never be subjected to any attack or threat of attack. In a joint statement issued during the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), these nations highlighted the importance of clear and firm opposition to any such actions, urging all IAEA members to unite in defending peaceful nuclear activities and maintaining the integrity of the Agency's safeguards system. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the statement was released by a coalition of countries comprising Belarus, Brazil, Burkina Faso, China, Cuba, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Nicaragua, Niger, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Zimbabwe. These nations cautioned that failing to respond to attacks on safeguarded nuclear facilities could erode established international norms, weaken the international legal order, and set a precedent for normalizing such ac tions.
