Tehran: The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced the halting of the Trend tanker, which was sailing under the flag of Togo, after it attempted an unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei stated that the Trend tanker tried to cross the Strait unlawfully, allegedly encouraged by the US military through political maneuvering. The IRGC naval units engaged the vessel, resulting in a fire that forced it to stop.

Rear Admiral Ozmaei emphasized that any unauthorized transit through the Strait of Hormuz will lead to the destruction of the violating vessel, asserting that the strategic waterway is under the firm control of the IRGC Navy.
