Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has extended his congratulations to his Pakistani counterpart on the occasion of Pakistan's 79th Independence Day anniversary.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi sent a message on Friday to Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, celebrating the milestone of Pakistan's Independence Day, observed every year on August 14. In his message, Araghchi emphasized the importance of Iran-Pakistan relations, highlighting the significance of ongoing political consultations and the enhancement of economic, trade, border, security, and cultural cooperation between the two nations. He believes these efforts will help both countries utilize their existing capacities and safeguard their mutual interests.

The historical bond between Iran and Pakistan was also noted, with Iran being the first country to recognize Pakistan's independence 79 years ago. Similarly, Pakistan was the first nation to acknowledge the Islamic Revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran in 1979.
