FM Spokesperson Criticizes US President’s Remarks on Iran

Tehran:Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has expressed criticism regarding the US president's recent comments on the potential consequences of military aggression against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei highlighted an excerpt from an interview in which the US president seemed indifferent to the repercussions of military actions against Iran. In a post on his X account, he compared the president's remarks to a moment in Albert Camus's "Caligula," where the inevitability of death is used to diminish the value of life. Baqaei warned that this perspective could lead to tyranny.

He further elaborated that while Caligula had only the primitive tools of ancient Rome, modern nihilism is armed with vast arsenals of mass destruction, posing a terrifying difference today.

Baqaei concluded by stating that the most significant geopolitical threat is not a leader facing mortality but a system that uses the inevitability of death to justify indifference to human suffering. He warned that appeasement is futile, as the absurdity of such a system recognizes no rules or contracts.
