Tehran: A senior official at Iran's Communication Regulatory Authority (CRA) announced that foreign manufacturers must activate 5G technology on cell phones imported to the country. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad Hassan Javadzadeh, the caretaker deputy head of the CRA, stated on Sunday that despite Iranian customers having paid for 5G capabilities on certain mobile phones, the technology remains inactive on their devices. To address this issue, the CRA has engaged in discussions with manufacturers of prominent brands. These companies have committed to enabling 5G technology on phones imported to Iran by the start of 2025. Javadzadeh emphasized that failure to meet these obligations will result in halting the import and registration of their mobile phones in Iran.
