Tehran: The Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned United States President Donald Trump for his ‘offensive and inappropriate remarks and conduct’ regarding Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the ministry issued a statement on Monday criticizing Trump’s ‘insolent’ remarks, which they claim constitute a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter. The tension escalated after Ayatollah Khamenei remarked on Thursday that Iran had delivered ‘a slap to America’s face’ by striking a U.S. airbase in Qatar. This action was a response to Washington’s attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites the previous weekend. The Leader further warned the U.S. against future attacks on Iran, which prompted Trump to make offensive remarks and threaten Iran with additional attacks.
The statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed strong disapproval of the U.S. President’s behavior, describing it as undiplomatic and a violation
of universally shared moral principles and the United Nations Charter. The ministry emphasized that such rhetoric is an affront to Iran’s dignified nation and ancient civilization, and deeply wounds the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide.
The statement further argued that the offensive language directed at Iran and its revered political and religious figures only serves to deepen global revulsion towards U.S. policies, while undermining the credibility of its purported desire for dialogue and engagement. The Ministry advised American officials to avoid resorting to insulting rhetoric and instead be accountable for their government’s violations of international law, including the unlawful attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and continued support for actions against the Iranian people and the broader region.
