Iran Rejects U.S. Negotiation Amid Policy Dictation Concerns

New york: Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Sa’eed Iravani, emphasized the impossibility of negotiating with the United States under pressure, highlighting concerns over the U.S. dictating policies to the Islamic Republic.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iravani stated in an interview with CBS News that aired on Sunday, “Negotiation has its principles, and it is a give and take process. So we should engage in the negotiation and discuss with each other, maybe we reach to a conclusion or not, but the unconditional surrender is not negotiation.” He made it clear that Tehran is ready to engage in talks if approached earnestly, but any attempt by Washington to impose its terms would render negotiations unattainable.

Iravani criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to assassinate the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, labeling it a “gross violation of international law” due to the immunity heads of state hold against attacks.

He further reiterated Iran’s entitlement to uranium enrichment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), asserting that the country’s nuclear program would persist despite U.S. aggression against Iranian nuclear sites. On June 22, the U.S. bombed key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, aligning itself with Israel’s ongoing conflict that commenced nine days earlier.
