Tehran: Four members of the PJAK terrorist group have been killed during a joint operation by Iranian border guards and intelligence forces near the western border town of Baneh, a police spokesperson said on Monday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Saeed Montazerolmahdi stated that the operation was initiated after border guards, acting on intelligence, identified the entry of a key PJAK operative into Iran on Sunday evening. The forces swiftly launched an operation to intercept the group.

Montazerolmahdi detailed that security forces were able to track a Samand sedan carrying the terrorist agents. A firefight ensued after the vehicle was identified, resulting in the deaths of four members of the group, as confirmed by the spokesperson.

The police spokesperson also noted that officers recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the vehicle and the scene, which included several handguns and hand grenades.
