Gaza:The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip has urgently called upon Arab and Islamic countries to intervene to break the siege imposed on the territory. The office warns that cuts in aid could have catastrophic consequences for Palestinians.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the appeal emphasizes the need for immediate action to address the consequences of aid reductions as the humanitarian situation deteriorates amid the ongoing siege and the collapse of essential services.
Residents of Gaza are facing increased needs for food, medicine, and shelter, as reductions in humanitarian assistance threaten to worsen the suffering of families who rely on aid to meet their basic needs.
This plea comes in the wake of warnings by Palestinian experts about the humanitarian and economic consequences of the World Food Program's decision to suspend food assistance to nearly half a million Palestinians in Gaza due to funding shortages. The United Nations agency recently announced the halt in food assistance to 500,000 people in the territory because of a lack of financial resources.
The World Food Program also noted that the number of people receiving monthly assistance in Gaza has decreased from 1.6 million to 1.1 million. Palestinian experts caution that these cuts will further aggravate hardship among Gaza's residents, who continue to endure the effects of the Israeli-imposed siege and worsening humanitarian conditions.
