The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) signed today a memorandum of cooperation with the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security and Programming (SAFCSP), aiming to strengthen the integration of drones in the geospatial sector. The agreement was signed today by GEOSA President Dr. Eng. Mohammed Yahya Alsayel and SAFCSP Chairman Faisal bin Saud Al-Khamisi. It outlines efforts to improve coordination in the use of geospatial technology with drones, develop a unified drone platform through a partnership between GEOSA and SAFCSP, and support the growth of the geospatial sector and drone application in the Kingdom. It also includes plans to increase the number of practitioners and companies in this field, enhance geospatial knowledge through national capacity building and exchange of expertise and educational resources, and develop a joint strategic initiative to discover and support interests in geospatial and drone technologies. The memorandum also aims to foster investment, facilitat e company entry, and localize industries related to geospatial and drone technologies, as well as advance research, development, and consultancy in these areas. GEOSA is responsible for regulating the surveying and geospatial information in the Kingdom, while SAFCSP focuses on building local expertise in cybersecurity, software development, and drones based on global best practices and standards.
