Tehran: The head of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, has declared that claims suggesting International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors have been granted access to nuclear sites bombed during US-Israeli aggression are not accurate. During the second part of a televised interview, Ghalibaf clarified that inspectors are currently only allowed access to the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Tehran research reactor.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf emphasized that the Iranian Parliament had passed legislation, supported by a resolution from the Supreme National Security Council, which strictly prohibits access to any sites that had been bombed and damaged. He stated that Iran would adhere to the access levels determined by the Council, which holds the legal authority to define the scope of inspections.
Ghalibaf also addressed the issue of Iran's frozen assets, noting that despite initial resistance from the United States, mediation efforts in Qatar led to a commitment to release twelve billion dollars in frozen assets. He highlighted the importance of the Zurich talks, which contributed to the acceleration of asset releases and the suspension of sanctions.
In discussing the conditions of the memorandum of understanding, Ghalibaf referenced a message from Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, who emphasized the necessity of fulfilling these conditions. Ghalibaf expressed his readiness to engage both diplomatically and on the battlefield to protect Iran's interests, urging others not to echo former President Trump's words and to allow the Iranian people to live in peace and pride.
Ghalibaf, who also serves as Speaker of Parliament, indicated that Iran must engage with its adversaries from a position of strength and use the current opportunity to modernize its Armed Forces and bolster the economy. He warned against showing weakness, as it could lead to national humiliation.
In conclusion, Ghalibaf reiterated the importance of unity and serving all Iranians, emphasizing the need for a sacred alliance around the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He underscored the duty to resolve economic problems and secure the nation, declaring the significance of aligning under the leadership of the Commander of the Faithful.
