Ghalibaf Congratulates Rezaei on Appointment as Iran’s Top Security Official

Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued an official message of congratulations to Mohsen Rezaei on his appointment as the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and his designation as the representative of the Leader on the council.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in his message late on Sunday, Ghalibaf praised Rezaei's extensive background and lauded the appointment as a testament to the trust placed in him by the leadership. He cited Rezaei's command during the Iran-Iraq war, his tenure as secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, and his decades of service to the Islamic Republic as key factors in his selection.

The speaker emphasized the critical nature of the current historical moment, saying that the Islamic Republic plays an irreplaceable role in regional and global security. He asserted that the world now recognizes Iran's unyielding stance, noting that national unity and cohesion in all areas will overcome any adversary.

The appointment was formally announced earlier on Sunday following a decree from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and an official order from President Masoud Pezeshkian. Rezaei, a veteran former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), succeeded Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who stepped down from the role to accept a new position as political advisor to the Leader.

The Supreme National Security Council is Iran's highest decision-making body on matters of defense, intelligence, and foreign policy.
