Tehran:Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has emphasized the crucial role of the Persian language in reinforcing national unity and safeguarding Iran's territorial integrity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a message to the 16th national conference honoring Abolfazl Beyhaqi, considered the father of Persian prose, Ghalibaf stated that the Persian language is a shared heritage of generations of Iranians and a carrier of the nation's historical and cultural memory.

Ghalibaf described Persian as more than a means of communication, identifying it as a foundational pillar of Iran's historical and cultural identity that has linked the country's diverse ethnic groups over centuries. He also noted that the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had consistently underscored the importance of preserving and strengthening Persian to ensure Iran's cultural and civilizational progress.

Ghalibaf urged for continuous efforts to protect and promote the Persian language amid rapid changes and increasing neglect of its potential. He highlighted conferences honoring literary figures like Beyhaqi as valuable opportunities to preserve Iran's written heritage and reinforce national cohesion. October 23 is celebrated in Iran as National Abolfazl Beyhaqi Day.
