Tehran: During a visit to the Iraqi city of Najaf, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has paid tribute to the tomb of Rais-Ali Delvari, a revered figure of Iran's anti-colonial resistance.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rais-Ali Delvari was an Iranian independent fighter and anti-British colonialism activist. He is remembered as a national hero in Iran who organized popular resistance against the British troops who had invaded Iran in 1915. He is widely regarded as a national hero and was martyred while defending Iran's sovereignty.

In addition to honoring Delvari, Ghalibaf also visited the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) located in the city of Najaf.
