Tehran:Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has ridiculed US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over his repeated failed predictions about Iran's economic collapse. Ghalibaf humorously suggested that Bessent could earn a Nobel Prize in Physics for demonstrating the irrelevance of time due to the missed deadlines.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf made these remarks in a post on X, where he highlighted several unfulfilled predictions by the US Treasury, including claims that Iran would have 'nothing in 2 weeks,' its oil wells would explode 'in 3 days,' and warnings of an 'Economic D-Day.'
These comments from Ghalibaf followed the expiration of several deadlines set by the US Treasury secretary, which predicted Iran's economic downfall without the anticipated outcomes occurring.
In addition to these economic predictions, the US has increased its military presence in West Asia, accompanied by increasingly hostile rhetoric toward Iran. Tehran has consistently warned that any renewed aggression against its territory would result in US bases and naval assets across the region being targeted in retaliation.
