Iranian Embassy Denies Azerbaijani NGO’s Claims on Dress Code Influence

Baku:The Iranian embassy in Baku has firmly denied allegations made by an Azerbaijani non-governmental organization that linked Iran to issues concerning school dress codes in Azerbaijan. The embassy emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary tensions between the neighboring countries.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the embassy issued a statement on Wednesday dismissing the claims by the National Forum of Azerbaijani NGOs (Milli QHT Forumu) as baseless. The embassy expressed surprise over attempts to involve foreign nations in Azerbaijan's domestic matters.

The controversy arose after Azerbaijan introduced new school dress code guidelines. On Sunday, the NGO released a statement urging the public to be vigilant against what it termed foreign influence. The forum claimed that certain online sources and media outlets from Iran and other countries were attempting to challenge Azerbaijan's secular governance and education model, warning that such actions could incite religious and social divisions within the country.
