Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has described the bond between the Iranian and Iraqi nations as 'historical and unbreakable' ahead of his strategic visit to Iraq. 'Our neighborliness is based on brotherhood during the hardest days, resistance against foreign interference, and belief in the shared destiny of the two countries,' Ghalibaf wrote on X on Wednesday morning.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf emphasized that the shared past would guide the future of Iran and Iraq. He highlighted that his visit aims to seek 'practical and major steps' to strengthen shared, indigenous security and promote the welfare of both nations.

Ghalibaf departed for Baghdad on Tuesday, where he is scheduled to meet with senior Iraqi officials and high-ranking figures of the country. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations, border security, the fight against terrorism, and the development of economic cooperation.
