Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has emphasized ongoing support for Iran and the resistance, describing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran as a sign of the failure of the US and Zionist regime's projects in the region. Sheikh Qassem made the remarks in a speech on Friday on the occasion of Ashura. That's the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram, marking the martyrdom anniversary day of the third Shia imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his 72 companions, who were killed at the hands of the tyrant of their time, Yazid, during the battle of Karbala 14 centuries ago.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in his remarks, he said that both the United States and the Israeli regime have attempted to change Iran's political system and impose their dominance over the country; however, Iran has successfully resisted these pressures. Referring to the understanding reached between the United States and Iran, the Hezbollah chief described the MoU as an official declaration of the failure of the US and Israeli regime. He emphasized that Iran is now shaping a new future for itself and for the region.
He pointed to Hezbollah's cooperation with Iran during the war, emphasizing that this partnership has contributed to the defeat of the joint American-Israeli regime project. Sheikh Qassem expressed gratitude for Iran's support and reinforced Hezbollah's alignment with Tehran. He described Hezbollah as an effective factor in supporting Lebanon's sovereignty and said that recent developments have highlighted Iran's role in regional equations.
