Beirut: Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has announced its support for Hamas’ decision to consult and coordinate with other Palestinian groups in response to US President Donald Trump’s plan to halt the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hezbollah’s statement, which was cited by Al-Manar TV network, praised the Palestinian groups’ efforts to address the ongoing Israeli aggression and genocide against the people of Gaza.
The statement highlighted Hamas’ commitment to the principles and constants of the Palestinian cause through its consultations with other resistance groups. It emphasized that this approach signifies Palestinian national unity, which should serve as the foundation for any negotiations. Hezbollah stressed that the objective of the negotiations among Palestinian factions is to ensure ‘the complete withdrawal of the enemy from Gaza,’ prevent the displacement of residents, and establish political, security, and livelihood management by Palestinians, relying on internal strength.
Hezbollah called on Arab and Islamic countries to support the Palestinian people and resistance groups in halting Israeli attacks on Gaza and the West Bank. The statement urged these nations to help achieve the legitimate rights of Palestinians. Following consultations with other factions, Hamas agreed on Friday night to the general principles of Trump’s 20-point plan and expressed its willingness to begin negotiations on the plan’s implementation details through intermediaries.
However, on Saturday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem criticized Trump’s plan, which was unveiled alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week. Qassem labeled the plan ‘dangerous’ and characterized it as part of the ‘Greater Israel’ plot.
