Tehran: Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.), has stated that the agency consistently opposes any threats to target nuclear facilities, labeling them as unacceptable.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Grossi expressed concerns on Wednesday that such threats not only exacerbate existing tensions but could also result in severe environmental repercussions. He stressed the need for increased interactions between Iran and the I.A.E.A. to address the Iranian nuclear issue effectively and warned against a political approach in these efforts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi emphasized the I.A.E.A.'s critical role in facilitating discussions between Iran and the United States. He urged the agency to adhere to its responsibilities purely on technical grounds, free from the influence of political biases from certain countries. Araqchi acknowledged the fluctuating nature of Iran's cooperation with the I.A.E.A., pointing out both grievances and successful instances of the agency fulfilling its duties.

During his visit to Tehran, Grossi held talks with key Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. After concluding his discussions, Grossi departed for Vienna on Thursday.
