IAEA Chief Labels Iran Discussions as ‘Constructive’.

Tehran: Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has characterized his recent meetings with Iranian officials in Tehran as 'constructive'. "Last week, as part of @IAEAorg efforts to preserve the non-proliferation regime, I traveled to Tehran for constructive high-level meetings with the Iranian Government and technical discussions on aspects related to the Joint Statement agreed with Iran in March 2023," Grossi stated on social media platform X on Wednesday. The IAEA chief echoed the same sentiment as he addressed the agency's Board of Governors later in the day. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Grossi detailed his visit to Iran, which included inspections at the Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites. These facilities, along with other enrichment facilities, remain under the agency's supervision and are regularly inspected by IAEA officials. During these visits, Grossi engaged in discussions about Iran's nuclear capacities and future enrichment plans. Grossi highli ghted that one of the key topics of discussion with Iranian officials was the potential for Iran to refrain from expanding its stockpile of uranium enriched to up to 60% purity. This issue was part of his latest report to the IAEA, emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation to ensure adherence to non-proliferation agreements.
