Imam Khamenei’s Legacy of Islamic Unity Celebrated by Lebanese Scholar

Tehran: Lebanese scholar Sayyed Ali Fadlallah, a former Friday prayer leader of Beirut, has lauded the efforts of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in transforming the concept of Islamic unity from a theoretical idea into a practical movement within the Muslim community.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Fadlallah made these remarks during the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Iran, organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought. He highlighted the significant role played by Imam Khamenei in reinforcing Islamic unity, noting that the late leader's religious directives and historical perspectives offered a unique intellectual reference on the unity among Muslims, particularly between Sunni and Shiite communities.

Fadlallah emphasized that Imam Khamenei did not treat unity as a mere slogan but as a foundational principle for Muslims, anchored in shared beliefs such as the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This approach was aimed at fostering coexistence and solidarity among Muslims worldwide.

The scholar also praised the Islamic Republic's role in promoting unity, stating that Iran had exemplified a commitment to unity through the substantive actions of its leaders and martyrs, especially in relation to supporting Palestine and upholding human dignity. He noted that Imam Khamenei had worked tirelessly to establish an Islamic model that was independent, sovereign, and could support oppressed and freedom-seeking individuals globally.

Fadlallah identified three core elements of Imam Khamenei's strategy for Islamic unity: the Quran, the Ahl al-Bayt and the Karbala school, and the creation of a robust Islamic model. He pointed out that Imam Khamenei encouraged a deeper understanding of the Quran, facilitating a broader movement within the Islamic world aimed at a meaningful engagement with Islam.

On the issue of Palestine, Fadlallah highlighted Imam Khamenei's efforts to forge connections between different generations and the Palestinian struggle, underscoring the importance of maintaining focus on the cause across the Muslim world.
