India To Host Two-day BRICS Leaders Summit In Sept 2026

New delhi: India will host the BRICS summit in the capital New Delhi on September 12-13, an official statement confirmed on Thursday. The gathering will bring together leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, as well as outreach invitees, as detailed by India's Foreign Ministry.

According to Nam News Network, the ministry emphasized that the leaders will exchange views on strengthening intra-BRICS cooperation on common priorities and share perspectives on global and regional matters of mutual importance. Under India's chairship this year, more than 350 meetings and high-level engagements have taken place in over 25 cities across the country to further solidify the BRICS strategic partnership.

India's BRICS chairship has played a role in advancing cooperation within the bloc through practical and development-oriented outcomes. The current BRICS framework, initially established as BRIC with Brazil, Russia, India, and China, expanded to include South Africa in 2010. Other nations such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran joined in subsequent years.

BRICS countries collectively represent over 40 percent of the global population and account for more than 32 percent of the global gross domestic product. The intra-trade volume among these countries surpassed US$1 trillion in 2025.
