Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Thursday for Muslim countries to ensure their territories are not used for launching attacks against fellow Muslim nations. He emphasized this point during his address at the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, broadcast on Iranian state television.

According to TRTworld.com, President Pezeshkian clarified that defending Iran does not equate to hostility towards other Muslim countries or neighboring states. He stressed that no Islamic nation should permit its land to be a platform for aggression against another. Additionally, he pointed out that seeking security should not come at the cost of the insecurity of neighboring countries.

The President also touched upon the ongoing conflict with the United States, noting that significant US and Israeli military actions against Iran commenced even as diplomatic talks between Tehran and Washington were in progress. These attacks, he mentioned, resulted in the loss of lives of Iranian commanders, officials, scientists, students, schoolchildren, and civilians, while also damaging cities and infrastructure.

IRNA reported that the conference has drawn approximately 600 domestic and international participants from 40 countries, including Iraq, Pakistan, Trkiye, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. The event is set to continue until Sunday, featuring activities in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, alongside four specialized meetings in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kordestan, Golestan, and Razavi Khorasan.
