Iran Advocates for Global Collaboration on Housing Policies

Siena:Speaking at a ceremony marking World Habitat Day at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development on Monday, Jalalzadeh emphasized that adequate housing is more than just shelter, describing it as essential for public safety and health.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Jalalzadeh highlighted the importance of protecting residential areas and civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts, referencing international humanitarian law as a guiding principle.

He condemned recent acts of aggression, highlighting attacks on schools and medical centers as clear violations of human rights, and called on international organizations to address the resulting humanitarian crisis.

Jalalzadeh also noted Iran's progress in urban resilience and rural development, achieved despite imposed sanctions and wars. He stressed the need for broader cooperation with friendly countries and specialized organizations, such as the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), to gain access to modern technologies and long-term financing.

World Habitat Day is observed on the first Monday of October each year and is recognized by the United Nations to reflect on the state of towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter.
