Iranian FM Highlights Environmental Impact of Military Attacks

Tehran:Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi has emphasized the severe environmental consequences of military actions against Iran, describing them as a "silent crime."

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi shared these views in an Instagram post following his speech at the first international conference titled 'Ecocide The Silent War Crime,' held at Iran's Department of Environment. He warned that environmental destruction during wartime extends beyond the battlefield, posing long-term threats.

Araghchi specifically pointed to US and Israeli military attacks on Iran, which have targeted oil and energy facilities, creating significant environmental hazards. These actions, he argued, endanger human health, deplete natural resources, and violate the rights of future generations to a healthy environment.

He stressed the importance of protecting the environment from military aggression and holding those responsible accountable, asserting that it is an "indisputable necessity." Araghchi concluded with a strong message, stating, "We will neither forgive nor forget!"
