Tehran: Iran's top nuclear official has asserted the transparency of the country's nuclear program, emphasizing its supervision under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), made these remarks during a cabinet session in Tehran. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Eslami highlighted that Iran has initiated the process of feeding gas into several thousand modern centrifuges as part of its efforts to expand the nuclear program. The move is intended to ensure the sustainability of its outcomes for the benefit of Iranian citizens. Eslami reaffirmed Iran's willingness to engage in international interaction but stressed that the nation would not relinquish its rights under external pressure or illegitimate actions. Eslami reiterated that Iran's nuclear activities remain fully transparent and are geared towards peaceful purposes. He emphasized that any unilateral pressure on Tehran backed by baseless accusations would not receive a favorable response. The AEOI head also stated that Iran's activities strictly adhere to established frameworks. Furthermore, he pointed out that Iran does not pursue a military nuclear program, a fact repeatedly confirmed by the US intelligence community. Eslami criticized parties opposed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for failing to honor their commitments. The United States, initially a part of the 2015 nuclear deal, withdrew unilaterally in May 2018, subsequently imposing severe sanctions on Iran.
