Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has voiced the country's strong support for the Lebanese resistance, nation, and government, saying that Tehran welcomes the end of the Israeli regime's aggression against Lebanon as part of a ceasefire agreement. The need for an immediate halt to the ongoing wars against Lebanon and Gaza has always been a principal stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmaeil Baghaei said early on Wednesday after the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon.According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei stated that Iran has made broad diplomatic efforts during the past 14 months to end the war in Gaza. He highlighted the devastating consequences of the Zionists' warmongering policies and the crimes committed under the full support of the US and certain European countries. These actions, he said, have resulted in the martyrdom of 60,000 innocent people, injuries to 120,000 others, the displacement of over 3.5 million individuals, and the massive destruction of crucial infr astructures in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.The diplomat also emphasized that the people who have already called out the genocide in Gaza are now awaiting punishment for the Israeli regime officials. This follows the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court against these officials, reflecting a push for accountability in the international arena.In his remarks, the spokesman reiterated the international community's responsibility for maintaining stability and peace in the West Asia region. He urged for effective pressure on the aggressive Israeli regime to halt its war in Gaza, underscoring the broader implications of continued conflict and the critical need for international intervention to foster a sustainable peace.
