Iran and Armenia Aim to Expand Cooperation in Trade, Science, and Technology

Tehran:President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for deeper collaboration between Iran and Armenia, highlighting the importance of Armenians living in Iran as valuable contributors to strengthening bilateral ties. He made these remarks during a meeting with Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian emphasized expanding cooperation in trade, science, culture, and technology. He referenced a recent meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York, which took place alongside the 81st UN General Assembly, as constructive.

President Pezeshkian also addressed regional issues and tensions with the United States, criticizing Washington for undermining Iran despite the country's willingness for genuine dialogue. He pointed out that Iran has shown the peaceful intent of its nuclear activities and has allowed extensive monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). However, he raised concerns about the safety of international inspectors given past incidents.

Additionally, President Pezeshkian condemned a US attack on an elementary school in Minab, which resulted in the deaths of 168 children, accusing Washington of failing to provide an explanation while persistently critiquing Iran's human rights record. He asserted that Iran would continue to build strong relations with its neighbors to counter external pressures.

On his part, Minister Mirzoyan conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Pashinyan and affirmed the strengthening Armenia-Iran relationship. He noted that despite international sanctions, Armenia remains committed to enhancing cooperation with Iran on the global stage, positioning itself as a peace-oriented nation.
