Bandar Anzali: Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic have commenced joint rescue and relief exercises in the Caspian Sea. The two-day event, hosted by the Iranian Navy, is currently taking place in Bandar Anzali, a port city in Iran's northern province of Gilan. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Public Relations Office of the Iranian Army revealed in a press release on Sunday afternoon that vessels from the Republic of Azerbaijan Navy, including the rescue and relief vessels G129 and A640, have entered Iranian waters to participate in the exercises. Operating under the slogan 'Cooperation for Peace and Friendship,' the exercise, named AZIREX2024, seeks to establish sustainable collective security in the region. The exercise aims to enhance multilateral cooperation among the participating countries, demonstrating their goodwill and capability to jointly support peace, friendship, and maritime security in the Caspian Sea.
