Iran and India Discuss Strengthening Defense and Security Relations

Tehran: Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, engaged in talks with Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor, to explore avenues for enhancing defense and security ties between their respective nations. In a phone conversation held on Saturday, the two officials focused on strategies to expand bilateral cooperation.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Doval extended his congratulations to Larijani on his recent appointment as Iran’s top security figure, emphasizing the critical nature of his role during this pivotal time. Larijani highlighted the necessity of boosting economic connections and intensifying collaboration in the realms of security and defense.

Furthermore, Larijani put forward proposals aimed at advancing the Chabahar port development project, which is of strategic importance to both Iran and India. The discussions concluded with a mutual agreement to continue the dialogue during Larijani’s forthcoming visit to India, with the objective of broadening cooperation across various sectors.
