Iran and Indonesia Explore Expanded Judicial Cooperation

Jakarta: Deputy judiciary chief Nasser Seraj met with senior Indonesian judicial and legal officials on Saturday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in legal and human rights fields. The discussions took place on the sidelines of a meeting hosted by the Supreme Court of Indonesia.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting included discussions with Prof. Sunarto, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia, who provided an overview of the court's mandate, authority, and institutional structure. The talks underscored the importance of strengthening friendly ties between Tehran and Jakarta, particularly in judicial and legal areas, with a call for continued engagement between the two sides.

In a separate meeting, Seraj also engaged with Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correction Affairs. The discussions covered various issues, including the transfer of convicted prisoners, mutual judicial cooperation, and broader legal and human rights matters.
