Islamabad: The interior ministers of Iran and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and border affairs.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss regional developments following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington that ended the imposed war. During the meeting, Naqvi acknowledged that reaching the Islamabad agreement was a result of the goodwill and trust Iran placed in the mediators.

Naqvi emphasized Pakistan's commitment to establishing peace in the region and enhancing ties with its neighbor, Iran. The ministers agreed to focus on areas such as security, counterterrorism, eradication of smuggling, cybersecurity, and border management.

The meeting was part of a series of bilateral sessions between Pakistani and Iranian ministers, which also addressed sectors like agriculture, commerce, railways, and transportation during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Islamabad.
