Iran and Turkmenistan Aim to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat: Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Hamid Ghanbari, recently led a delegation to Turkmenistan to hold discussions with top officials, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Ghanbari and Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, explored a variety of issues, such as political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations during their meeting in Ashgabat.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghanbari and Meredov both stressed the significance of fostering collaboration between the two neighboring nations across all sectors. Ghanbari also previously engaged with his Turkmen counterpart, Akhmet Gurbanov, to reaffirm their dedication to executing agreements established in the last session of the Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Currently, Iran and Turkmenistan trade primarily in petroleum products, cotton, and industrial goods. However, both countries are keen to expand cooperation in the fuel and energy sectors and are exploring opportunities to enhance transportation and transit capabilities between them.
