US Unilateral Sanctions ‘Systematic Violation of Human Rights,’ Iranian Official Says

Tehran: The Director-General for Women and Human Rights at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Forouzandeh Vadiati, has described the United States’ unilateral sanctions against Iran as a ‘systematic violation of human rights.’ During the unveiling ceremony for the latest report on human rights violations by the US and Britain on Sunday, she described the US’s unilateral, illegal, and cruel sanctions against Iran as a blatant example of an all-out war against civilians.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, she also emphasized that the United States bears full responsibility for the human rights consequences of killing innocent people, including Iranian children and women, and for the destruction of non-military infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and kindergartens, as well as targeting Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.

Vadiati praised the resilience and national unity of the Iranian people during the 12-day war in June. Referring to a published report on human rights violations by Britain, she criticized the UK for its role in human rights abuses, systemic discrimination, and support for the Zionist regime. Additionally, she held the United States complicit in Israeli war crimes in Gaza, saying that the era of double standards has come to an end.
