Iran and Uzbekistan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Tehran:Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev engaged in a phone conversation emphasizing the potential to enhance friendly and cooperative ties between their nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian expressed Iran's commitment to bolstering relations with Uzbekistan, highlighting the significance of partnerships with neighboring, friendly, and like-minded countries as a cornerstone of Tehran's foreign policy.

The discussion focused on broadening cooperation across various sectors and fostering closer connections between the Iranian and Uzbek peoples. President Mirziyoyev acknowledged the ongoing expansion of ties between Tehran and Tashkent and reiterated Uzbekistan's dedication to strengthening bilateral relations through diplomatic efforts.

The Uzbek president commended President Pezeshkian's initiatives to promote peace, stability, and development amid the current challenging regional and international climate. He underlined the necessity of increasing diplomatic engagements to further mutual interests.

Additionally, President Mirziyoyev extended his congratulations to President Pezeshkian on his birthday, wishing him health and success in his leadership role. He also requested that his greetings be conveyed to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
