Iran Army Enhances Drone Capabilities and Prepares for Asymmetric Warfare

Tehran:Iranian Army Chief Commander Major General Amir Hatami announced that the Army has bolstered its drone capabilities and stands ready for asymmetric warfare, drawing on insights from conflicts with the United States and Israel over the past year.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hatami made these statements during a visit to an Army facility dedicated to producing combat drones. The visit included a review of the Army's readiness and operational capabilities.

Hatami emphasized the role of Iran's Armed Forces, particularly the Army, in ensuring security and countering threats, while preparing for even the most unlikely scenarios. He described adversaries as unreliable, only responding to displays of strength, and cautioned that any perceived leniency could be misinterpreted as a retreat.

The Army is actively involved in producing, distributing, and maintaining drones, with personnel receiving necessary training for their operation. Hatami noted the increasing significance of unmanned weapons, including drones, unmanned surface vessels, and micro-drones, in modern warfare.

The Army's drone development program, which includes the Arash drones, was initiated in collaboration with the Defense Ministry. It has since developed into a significant joint effort involving universities, specialists, and knowledge-based companies.

Hatami also highlighted the Army's readiness for asymmetric warfare, stating that it is better equipped and positioned, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to fulfill its requirements.

He further emphasized the Navy's strong presence at sea and along the coast east of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any enemy vessel entering the area would be targeted. Additionally, Iran enforces its regulations concerning passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman using naval mines and automated control systems.
