Iran: Iran's Ambassador to Yerevan Mehdi Sobhani has declared his country's support for Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. 'The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes its principled stance in supporting Armenia's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, welcomes its efforts aimed at establishing friendly relations with neighbors and is ready to help the Armenian government in this direction,' the Iranian ambassador was quoted by Armenian news agency Armenpress as saying at an event on Thursday. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sobhani made these remarks during the opening ceremony of a conference titled 'Armenia-Iran: Cooperation and New Prospects' held in Kapan. The ambassador further stated that Iran supports Armenia's Crossroads of Peace initiative and emphasized that any unblocking should occur based on Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, under the country's control. Sobhani also expressed support for Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks, highlighting that tension s between the two nations could lead to unfavorable outcomes for the region. He described the Armenian-Iranian border as a 'border of friendship' and affirmed Tehran's commitment to expanding ties with Yerevan across various fields.
