Tehran: In efforts to reduce its reliance on gasoline imports, Iran has increased its daily gasoline output by 8.5 million liters over the past two and a half months, according to a senior Oil Ministry official. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Keramat Veis Karami, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, stated that the production capacity of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, Iran's largest gasoline producer, has increased by 4 million liters a day to reach 44 million liters. Additionally, the Tehran Refinery and Isfahan Refinery have each contributed an additional 2 million liters per day to the country's gasoline output, while the Tabriz Refinery has added another 500,000 liters to daily production. Karami also reported that an average of 124.5 million liters per day of gasoline has been distributed in Iran since the beginning of the current calendar year, starting March 20, 2024. This marks a 7.4% increase compared to last year's average consumption of 116 million liter s per day. Furthermore, the official highlighted that Iran has consumed an average of 8.5 million liters per day of imported gasoline during the first six months of the current calendar year, spanning from March 20 to September 21. He emphasized the country's commitment to reducing its dependence on gasoline imports.
