Tehran:President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran has successfully halted gasoline imports due to effective conservation and consumption management, even as the nation faces high energy consumption and the challenges of sourcing fuel amid U.S. economic pressures.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian attributed the lack of need for gasoline imports to public cooperation, which resulted in significant savings. These efforts have reportedly saved the country $12 billion, allowing Iran to navigate its fuel sector needs more efficiently.
In his address at the Government Information Council meeting in Tehran, the President also spoke about leveraging media and public relations to highlight government achievements. He emphasized the importance of using media strategically to promote justice and counteract the efforts of Iran's adversaries, which include military aggression, economic sanctions, and media campaigns designed to create division within the country.
President Pezeshkian reiterated the need for unity and collaboration to address national challenges, particularly in light of the difficulties posed by the U.S.-Israeli-imposed war and sanctions. He assured that the government is committed to overcoming these obstacles and prioritizing the welfare of the Iranian people.
He also mentioned that income generated from increased fuel prices, along with savings from conservation efforts, would be returned to the public, underscoring the government's focus on securing the livelihoods of its citizens.
